For close to 30 years, CommUnityCare’s David Powell Health Center has provided innovative HIV treatment and prevention to those living with HIV in and around Austin. Our compassionate team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, dietitians and therapists, all of whom are experts in their specialties. We are committed to helping those living with HIV, regardless of their ability to pay, live long and healthy lives.

MEET RUDY

Rudy Villela has been a patient at the David Powell Health Center since the 1990s, where he first began receiving HIV treatment after a surprising diagnosis. “When I went into David Powell, I was so scared I couldn’t even say I’m HIV positive because I would start crying,” said an emotional Villela as he reminisced on the moments he decided to start fighting for his life. “I feel the energy now, the same feeling back then, but they [David Powell] made it so comfortable for me and to know this isn’t it, you can live life still.”
